Ante and Post Natal Care (Free)
We provide combined ante-natal care free of charge under the mother and child scheme. Once registered and approved by the scheme, your ante natal visits will be free of charge. Combined care is offered in conjunction with our practice nurses who is a trained midwife.
This service is available by completing a Mother & Infant application form with your Doctor and we submit it for approval (please note PPS number must be provided on this form in order to be covered for this service). This service is available to all mothers with a valid PPS number.
We understand the concerns as well as the joys of pregnancy and early motherhood for both the women, and their partners. Our doctors and nurse will provide the best possible antenatal care by rigorous monitoring of your pregnancy for early detection or prevention of possible complications. Ideally a pregnant woman should be seen at least once before 12 weeks, once more before 20 weeks , every 4 weeks until 32 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks and weekly thereafter (most of these visits are done by your GP). After the birth, we will be available anytime if you have any concerns and will routinely assess you and your child at 2 and 6 weeks to make sure your child gets a good healthy start in life!
The service covers 6 antenatal care consultations and a postnatal consultation for Mum and Baby at two weeks and a six week developmental check for children registered with this practice.
Care for other illnesses which you may have at this time such as chest infections, but which are not related to your pregnancy, is not covered by the Scheme, and may incur a fee.
If you require a Glucose Tolerance Test, this is available free, at the CUMH but may incur a charge if you wish to have it carried out here at the surgery.
